Hi There, I came across your question and think I can help you if you live close by. I am a mother of two young children at home and looking for little projects to do on the side. I love scrapbooking, am a graphic designer by trade and have my own little home custom craft stamp business as well. Would love to have a chat with you. Contact me if interested in my help. Cheers K

what software is needed if they are hand drawn? what type of education or classes can someone take to learn this art?

well, if you live in US they have michael’s sometimes they have scrapbook lesson, and collage always good (cut pieces from something, ex:magazine, and glue it all together), and if you want clip art, illustrator offer better, and good thing is that you can scale it up and not getting pixelated

I love scrapbooking. I’d like to know the best ways to organize everything and your favorite tools. Especially if someone has purchased, or designed a desk or area to scrapbook at. Thanks!

my fav’s:
1. grage sale kitchen table 40×40 perfect size for working on plus all the "crap" I end up dragging out.
2. IKEA’s rod and hanging baskests and hooks.
3. IKEA’s kitchen knife magnet strips. stong enough to hold dies, and tins without slipping off.

4. The best of all, hubby picked up from a school that was remodeling, an old in-box for teachers mail. You know the ones in the office with all the slots for teachers mail. 40 slots, each one holds 1 IRIS plastic box. Best way to store paper, flowers, alphabets, ink etc… I painted it and had a piece of glass cut for the top to protcet it. I keep pic’s under the glass and all my Jim Holt tins ontop. Looks great and very functional.

EDIT: also love the bar height table hubby made for me. Just 20 inches deep, but 5 feet long. Has a tile top. Great for laying out stuff when I come home from shopping, or for deciding on a layout before I sit and do it. Also good for use as a die cut center. able to stand straight up, no more aching back from making a zillion letters for something.

I have to make a scrapbook for my country report it must have more then 10 photes of brazil . But I don’ t know what a scrapbook is and what photes of Brazil to.Thank you !

You don’t know what a scrapbook is?? Exactly what it implies, a book holding ’scraps’ of things like photos, ticket stubs…memorabilia. To make a scapbook of Brazil, print out pictures of maps, leaders, landmarks. Add printing of important news articles. It would be great (but doubtful) if you could get the national flower to press in the book. (Cattleya labiata, sometimes known as Corsage Orchid is the National Flower of Brazil) Use your imagination.

scrapbooking page layouts will be a big part of any scrapbooking project you are involved in. Many people make their own layouts while others get ideas or download templates or layouts from the Internet. You can then use these layout pages for your traditional scrapbook by printing them out or you can also use them for a digital scrapbook that you are building.

I want to make a scrapbook for lots of things, like holidays, events, or travels. i don`t know what i need and i don`t know how to make it. if you don`t want to explain that then could you find out where i can buy a scrapbooking kit. my friend has an All About Me scrapbook does anybody no about that or any other scrapbooking books or kits?
thanks a bunch

For scrapbooking, try and see if your local craft store offers classes and take a couple to learn the basics about scrapping. It will help you and give you confidence.

You wnat to buy archival products – things free of acid, lignin, etc. This will allow your book to last and not deterioriate or yellow over time. Products in the scrapbooking aisle will say these things on the package.

For starters, get a scrapbook that you like. I tend to get ones with plain covers as I want them to have a similar look on my bookshelf but the option is yours. I also like using 12" x 12" books as this allows for a lot of items on one page, but again the choice is yours. As you go, you will learn what you like.

Items you need to begin: these are some basic tools that are good to start out with. Do not go overboard and start simply. You can add tools as you go.
-12" paper trimmer
-scissors
-adhesive (photo squares, tape runner, etc… Get what you like. I start out with photo squares as they work on everything and you can cut them up to save $$)
-background paper in the size of your book (I buy these when they go on sale – at JoAnn’s right now the 12" is on sale for 5 for $1)
-card stock (I usually buy a pack in various colors)
-pens

These tools will get you started. You basically pick a background paper and the photos you want to go on it. If it’s a 12" sheet I try to get 3 or 4 photos on it.

I trim or "crop" my picture. Do this by looking at your picture and cutting out the unnecessary stuff out of it.

I adhere it to a matte. This is cardstock from my pack that is usually 1/4" larger than my photo.

I then place and attach my photos to the background paper. I also add a journal box. This is a piece of cardstock that I have written on to say what the page is about.

There are many ways to construct a page. You can add stickers, embellishments…really anything. The sky is the limit. I tend to like simpler pages as it is cheaper and doesn’t feel too cluttered to me. It’s really your personal preference. As you get better, you will see what you like.

You can also look on the internet for sample layouts to help you build your page. I also like to create my own embellishments out of my cardstock. For example, I make candy corn to add to autumn pages, stocking for Christmas, etc.

You can buy scrapbooking products at Wal Mart, Target, JoAnn’s, Michael’s, the dollar stores and your local craft stores. Maybe you can get together with a friend or two and you can learn and share together. You can buy kits of paper, stickers, etc already in a pack. This helps you build pages quickly but cost more than buying the items separately.

Good luck!

Live in Saskatchewan and would like to find an online store to purchase from in Canada.

JoAnn’s sells online, but I don’t know if they ship from within Canada. EBay actually has a ton of scrapbooking stuff. You can refine your search to addresses within a certain radius, which would only show you Canadian sellers. It’s in the vertical box on the left-hand side of the screen, once you’ve gotten to a category of stuff.

If it were me, I’d use Google. Go to www.google.com and type "scrapbooking stores online Canada" in the search box that comes up. Hit Enter. If you get too many to deal with, refine your search and try again.
